Partner

Oriel is a qualified Chartered Accountant having graduated with an Honours degree in Finance from University College Cork in 2005. Since joining O’ Connor Pyne & Co. Limited in September 2005 she has become experienced in the areas of audit, tax and company law. Oriel also has experience in dealing with Solicitors, Auctioneers, Insurance Companies, Credit Unions and large group audits. Oriel currently manages a portfolio of over 150 clients and was made a Partner of the firm in May 2015.

Conor Pyne

Partner

Conor is the founding partner of O’Connor Pyne & Co. Limited and a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years’ experience advising medium and large companies.

He specialises in insolvency, corporate restructuring and transaction advisory, with over 10 years’ experience as an insolvency practitioner. He has acted for the Revenue Commissioners in court liquidations and served on the NAMA panel for receiverships.

Conor has advised on major acquisitions including Fota Island Resort, Lyrath Estate Hotel and The Kingsley Hotel, and also provides company valuations and expert evidence in judicial separation and divorce cases.

Tomás O’Connor

Tomás O’Connor is a qualified Chartered Accountant having trained with Noone Casey in Dublin. He then spent a period of time working as a tax consultant with PWC in Limerick before transferring to J.B. O’Sullivan & Co. (Westboro Partners) in Cork as a tax manager. He is also a member of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland. He has expanded his areas of expertise to the field of insolvency, finance and advisory services. Tomás excels at ‘thinking outside of the box’ and creating structures which minimise tax payable on retirement. He has proved particularly effective in creating practical solutions and mediating between new and existing partners in business. He values long term relationships with clients and is committed to problem solving in the current challenging economic climate.

Tony Donegan

Tony graduated from Cork Institute of Technology in 2014 with an Honours Degree in Accounting. Tony joined O’Connor Pyne & Co Limited as a trainee in June 2014 and qualified in January 2017. Since joining the firm Tony has worked with various small and medium companies from a range of industries including the tyre industry, cleaning industry, construction industry and the retail industry. Tony has extensive experience in providing accounting and audit services including accounts preparation, income tax returns, p35s, vat returns and corporation tax return. Tony has experience in working 1 to 1 onsite with clients preparing management accounts, and ensuring all returns are filed with revenue on time.

Ashling McNamara

Ashling graduated with an honors degree in Commerce from University College, Cork. Since joining O’Connor Pyne & Co. Ltd. in 2010, she has become experienced in the areas of audit, payroll, and accounts. She was admitted as a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2014 and currently holds the position of Audit Director within the firm. As well as having her own portfolio of bookkeeping clients, Ashling is involved in preparing financial accounts for small to medium sized companies. The audit clients she has worked on include solicitors, charities, credit unions, hotels, companies.

Kaitriona O’Mahony

Kaitriona joined O’Connor Pyne & Co. Limited as a trainee Chartered Accountant in August 2010 after graduating with a first class honours degree in Commerce from UCC. Kaitriona was admitted as a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2014. Since joining the firm she has become experienced in the areas of Accounts Preparation, Audit, Corporate and Personal Tax, Payroll and Revenue Audits. As well as maintaining her own portfolio of payroll clients, Kaitriona is involved in the preparation of financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and audit exempt companies across a variety of industries including agriculture, retail, wholesale, manufacturing, and professional services. Kaitriona is also responsible for the audit of individual and group companies with turnovers ranging from €2M to in excess of €15M.

Linda Kelly

Linda completed her training with Gordon Lane & Co. in Cork in 2001 and then transferred to Ernst & Young in Cork before joining O’Connor Pyne & Co. Limited in 2003. She has over 15 years experience as an audit manager and currently manages a portfolio of clients from sole traders to large companies with turnover in excess of €20 million. Linda has over 9 years of experience in auditing Credit Unions in addition to being the audit partner in charge of solicitors, auctioneers and pension funds. Linda was made Audit Director in May 2015.

Lisa, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Institute of Taxation in Ireland, has been a part of O’ Connor Pyne & Co. Limited since September 2007, when she joined the firm following her graduation from University College Cork with a first class Honours Degree in Accounting. During her time in O’Connor Pyne & Co Lisa has proven her talent to resolve the most complex taxation issues and is highly regarded by the clients for her competence together with her ability to explain most technical aspects in easily understandable terms. During her time in O’Connor Pyne Lisa gained a vast experience of successfully completing various assignments, from tax advise and tax planning to assisting clients with the Revenue audits. Lisa’s clients vary from sole trader to large well established companies in Ireland. She was made Tax Director in May 2015.

Elizabeth Murphy

Elizabeth is a Director in our Tax Department. She joined O’Connor Pyne & Co Ltd in April 2016, having previously being employed for 12 years as Tax Manager with CHK Partnership, Cork and prior to that as a Tax Consultant with JB O’Sullivan & Co (Westboro Partners). Elizabeth graduated from University College Cork in 1994 and became a member of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland in 2001. Elizabeth now has 17 years’ experience as a professional tax advisor, working in all areas of tax, providing consultancy and compliance advice to a range of corporate and individual clients including high net worth individuals. She works at structuring transactions to ensure minimisation of taxation. Elizabeth has special interest in the areas of Gift & Inheritance Tax, Estate and Succession planning, VAT on property and assisting clients with Revenue Audits and investigations.

Barry Donohue

Having worked in Restructuring services with several international firms including KPMG, Grant Thornton and BDO, Barry has extensive expertise in both corporate and personal restructuring and holds a qualification for insolvency.With over 30 years’ experience, Barry has worked with financial institutions, regulatory bodies, creditors and Revenue authorities on restructuring assignments particularly involving the challenging of antecedent transactions. He is currently trustee in bankruptcy over a number of Irish-based bankruptcies.Aside from formal insolvency processes, Barry has particular proficiency in a number of sectors including hotels & leisure, property, engineering and retail. He has also successfully implemented a number of arrangements between distressed companies and their creditors

Michelle Lynch

Payroll Director

Michelle is a qualified Certified Public Accountant, specializing in Payroll, and joined O’ Connor Pyne in June 2015. Michelle has a vast knowledge of both Irish and UK payrolls. She has recently completed the Irish Payroll Association Ltd’s Certificate in Payroll Techniques. She is responsible for Irish and UK weekly, fortnightly & monthly payrolls for small, medium and large businesses, varying in employees from 1 – 250 in each. She deals with social welfare queries, personal taxation, PRSI, Benefit In Kind (BIK), expenses, tax free payments, termination payments, redundancies, employer duties (PAYE Modernization Compliance, etc.) She also manages industry specific payrolls, and ensures compliance with all Industry Employer Obligations and WRC Inspections. As well as the weekly and monthly payroll, Michelle deals with all employee related queries including Redundancy, Minimum Notice, arrears of wages, arrears of holiday pay, arrears of pensions and any awards made by the Employments Appeals Tribunal. Michelle calculates and returns all taxes and submits Payroll Submissions to the Revenue Commissioners.

Christine Murphy

Christine initially began working as Receptionist in O’Connor Pyne in 2013. Following on from four years in her receptionist role she then completed a Higher Diploma in Human Recourse Management in UCC. Having completed this course, she became involved in the running of the O’Connor Pyne’s HR duties. Christine has now progressed on to work within the Company Secretarial department in O’Connor Pyne. Her role includes monitoring the annual compliance of all client companies and ensuring all filing deadlines are met, formation of companies, maintaining company registers and minute books, preparing board minutes, drafting necessary paperwork to reflect changes to company officers/officer details/registered office/company name/share capital, strike off process of companies and preparing Companies Registration Office forms as required to reflect any changes. Christine has since completed a Certificate in Company Secretarial Law & Practice through the Irish Law Society.
